My name is Savannah Davitt and I have a Washington based small

business called The Floating Narwhal.

I was recently vending at an outdoor Halloween event for my business when a large tree broke and fell on vendor booths killing one person, injuring many and destroying many small businesses that rely on events for their full time income, including mine.

I heard the crack and was so lucky to barely get out of the way and avoid personal injury or death but it was

scary close. My business that I have put all my hopes and dreams for over three years was not so lucky and took significant damages, my tent is the purple one. My tent, displays and over half my inventory was destroyed and it was absolutely devastating even though I was one of the lucky ones

to not be physically hurt.

I rely on my business for my full time income, doing events almost every weekend. I work so hard, putting in 10-14 hour days on average on top of hours creating, marketing and researching new markets. I absolutely love what I do, it’s my dream and I thrive on meeting people, trying new events and building a community through my business. I’ve worked nonstop to salvage what I can and keep going. I have been really lucky so far to have my community support me while I work to get back on my feet but I’ve hit a wall. I’m burnt out and while I have a couple more events this year, things are piling up and I’m overwhelmed. I also had to say goodbye to my sweet 17yr old dog last week and dealing with his loss has really made it difficult to keep going. I just want to get back to a place where I’m feeling motivated to create because I want to and not because I’m in survival mode stressing about making ends meet.

Anything donated would go into helping me finish out my year strong and getting set up for success in the new year. Donations would go to replacing my tent, tent cover, displays, products, event fees, therapy appointments, monthly bills, and paying for the vet bill and aftercare for my dog.

So many people have already offered support and come out to support me and my business and I am so lucky to have an incredible community. I so appreciate any help and I always try to put anything extra back into my community when I can. I really could not have kept going without you all so thank you with my whole heart
