Hey everyone, my name is Abby. You may remember in October 2022 when we lost my mom, Ruthie Gelgot-Filon, to a sudden and violent battle with lung and bone cancer. I had a fundraiser then, and it helped tremendously with bills and other living expenses.
My family and I need your help again. My dad lost his job that he had for 15 years. Of course, he's looking into new jobs and other benefits he could collect from being laid off, but we need some extra support.
Jacob and I are the sole moneymakers of the house now, with 4 people and 5 pets to keep alive. We both work 40 hours a week, sometimes more, and make just barely enough to keep our heads above water and treat ourselves to nice things occasionally (and that was with my dad's income). Now, with both significant sources of income gone, it's not looking good for us financially.
I graduated from Arcadia University 2 years ago with $90k of student loan debt, which was put into repayment in March. So, that being said, I now have a huge monthly payment to both my private and federal lenders, as well as the house expenses. Our mortgage is close to $200k to pay off, making our monthly payments more than the money we make combined. This is genuinely not feasible for us at all.
Everyone in my life knows that I hate asking for help, but we can't struggle in silence anymore.
Any little bit helps, even a dollar or two. Thank you so much in advance and thank you to everyone who helped us in 2022 when my mom passed. All of the donations are being stored in a separate savings account that will only be used to contribute to housing-related expenses, like the mortgage, groceries, utilities, and repairs.
