Hi, my name is Chris Morales. On May 31st, I’ll be running the San Diego Marathon in honor of my grandmother Rosa and in support of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

My grandma Rosa was one of the most selfless people I’ve ever known — someone who found a way to smile even through her suffering. Though she is no longer with us physically, she lives on in our hearts and continues to inspire everything I do.

Her battle with colon cancer showed me that there is meaning in suffering. For me, that meaning is to show up for everyone affected by this disease — to run when others can’t, and to raise awareness so fewer families have to go through what ours did.
