Support the Ferraro's in Getting #JusticeforJoe

Dr. Joseph Ferraro was a passionate, outgoing, and loving person whose compassion and desire to heal and help people came through in every relationship and friendship he had. Joe was a son, a brother, a cousin, a nephew, friend, a colleague, and, what he had always longed to be, a trauma surgeon. His thirst for life was only outweighed by the love he had for his family and friends. Dr. Joseph Ferraro was 34 years old when he was killed on December 7, 2021. He was living in Tennessee at the time but was from Staten Island, New York. His tragic death was compounded by every development thereafter. Despite the suspicious circumstances under which he died and the speed with which the only other person present who witnessed his death had left the state, law enforcement had already made their errors and refused to move from their original position that Joseph had committed suicide. A determination that was made and relayed to the family hours after he had died without interviewing colleagues, family members, or friends who knew that he would never do that.

Dr. Joseph Ferraro’s life ambition was alleviating human suffering. He was loved and respected by so many, and the effect that his unexpected death has had on everyone who knew him cannot be adequately described. His desire to live is what makes his death so tragic and haunting. He deserves the only thing we can give him in death - the truth. Joseph came from a middle-class family who all had to work hard for what they earned. We ask that you help in any way that you can. The pursuit of justice for Joe necessitated the hiring of an attorney and subsequently will require the use and hiring of experts in order to procure the truth, get some semblance of closure, and most importantly, so that he may truly rest in peace with his name and his true legacy intact.

It is not too late to get justice for Joseph which is why we are pursuing the truth. We are in the process of having the manner of death overturned through the legal process laid out in the statute. However, after doing so, the uphill battle continues as we hold law enforcement in Tennessee accountable and the MEs in Tennessee who are employed by for-profit companies that are not controlled by the state. We are not the only family suffering this injustice and we will not be the last unless we take a stand and hold all of these people accountable. Joseph was from a middle-class family and worked hard his whole life. The funeral expenses and legal expenses are crushing but necessary evils. To obtain justice for Joseph so he can rest in peace, I implore you to help us with our cause. We are hoping to lead the charge and get justice for Joseph and hopefully, set the precedent for those other families to also obtain justice and peace for their loved ones in death.
