We are heartbroken to share that The Yoga Expo has tragically and unexpectedly lost one of its beloved family members.

 

Sam Azran got sick from food poisoning on Friday, May 20th and on Sunday, May 22nd, he became unconscious and was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead on arrival due to a sudden heart attack.

 

Sam was the kind, caring, and creative spirit who made all the logos, graphics, and social media images for The Yoga Expo. He's worked with us for 8 years, from the beginning of The Yoga Expo.

 

Sam was 42 years old, the sole breadwinner for his family, and leaves behind his wife and three young daughters: 12-year-old Ruqaiya, 10-year-old Khadeeja, and 6-year-old Fathima, pictured above with their dad.

 

His family has no savings, no income, no insurance, and monthly expenses of approximately $500. They live in a simple home in Sri Lanka that was damaged in a storm last year. They had to find alternative places to stay and finally were able to repair it and move back in, in April of 2022.  Sam was so grateful to be able to move his family back into their home and now, just a few months later, he’s gone.

 

We hope to raise at least $12000 for Sam’s family to help them survive for the next 2 years while they rebuild and after the loss of their husband and father.
