Love BIG. That’s what my nephew did well. He learned it from his mom. On Wednesday November 17th, 2021, Carmyne Payton passed away unexpectedly while trying out for his schools basketball team.
At just 15 years old, Carmyne affectionately known as Buddy, was able to capture the hearts of everyone he met. His infectious smile and fierce personality shined through especially in the company of his siblings and family. He leaves behind his older brother/ best friend Aaydin and three younger sisters, Janiyah, Jurnyi, & Kynzi. His selfless & nurturing presence has been deeply missed everyday as we’ve been navigating this horrible time without him.
Carmyne was interested in so many things. He was a foodie, a creative, a Boy Scout, an athlete, a dancer, a gamer & a comedian in his own right. Upon his passing, we came across such heartwarming messages he posted expressing his gratitude for being able to make the first cut on the basketball team. Not only was he thankful to be in that position, he congratulated all those that made it along with him! His capacity to love and celebrate everyone around him was truly his super power.
It truly pains me to see my sister have to adjust to this new season of life. I created this gofundme to help her in that transition. Losing a loved one as we all know, is extremely difficult. Suddenly losing a child is nothing short of a nightmare.
I ask as friends of the family, the community, and anyone touched by Carmyne’s light that we hold his family up. The pressure to get back to work to provide for the rest of the household is a heavy burden to bear in this trying time. Any contribution you are able to share will go directly to Carmyne’s mom, Tiffany Wofford. Although this does not erase the pain they will endure, especially in this upcoming holiday season, this will help Tiffany focus on being with her children and healing in her own time. No matter if you can contribute something big or small, on behalf of the family we ask that you please… love on your people & LOVE BIG.
