Emergency help needed!
Hi, my name is Pam Moore and I’m raising funds to support my sweet sister and niece who recently lost Carly Ann Skaggs, their beloved daughter and sister.
We are in shock and disbelief that my precious niece, Carly, died suddenly on Thanksgiving morning, November 24th, 2022. Our hearts are broken. For twenty-eight years, my sister, Melissa cared for her special needs daughter Carly, who was born with Fragile X Syndrome and severe autism. In July, Melissa and her daughter Amanda could no longer give Carly the care she needed due to Melissa and Amanda’s declining health. My sister is on Disability herself and has difficulty even taking care of her own needs. Tragically, after only being in an alternate home with a caregiver for the past five months, her caregiver found Carly unresponsive. Melissa and Amanda woke up to a coroner coming to their door Thanksgiving morning to report their beloved daughter and sister was dead.
To have a coroner show up to your home to tell you that your daughter and sister died is beyond traumatic… We have all been crushed with the news and are still in shock and confusion, trying to understand what happened. We are awaiting the results of the autopsy which the coroner ordered, and an investigation to determine cause of death. In the meantime, we had to make plans for the funeral home and hard decisions had to be made in the middle of this nightmare. My sister and niece Amanda live on limited Social Security disability funds and need help to pay for funeral arrangements and living expenses. The grief, shock, sorrow, and financial fear is so scary for my sister.
If the Lord tugs on your heart to help in any way financially or otherwise, we would so appreciate it as we navigate this unspeakable loss. Since Melissa’s husband died in 2016, leaving her with her two severely disabled children plus Amanda, life has been unbelievably difficult. We first found her son an alternate home and she attempted to care for Carly as best she could until Melissa had a stroke in 2019. Melissa has been in a health decline for the last few years and now she has to have a caregiver come five days a week to assist her. Melissa and Amanda suffer from severe stress from just surviving the last few years without her husband and increasing health challenges and now the loss of Carly has been more than they can bear. The widow and orphan are at the top of God's list and I pray that He will move your heart to minister His love to my sister and my niece to relieve some of the fear of financial stress.
