Stand with Musfiqur’s family in their time of loss

My name is Ahmedullah Aziz, and I am a faculty member at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK). I also serve as the Faculty Adviser of the Bangladesh Students Association (BSA).

On January 28, our community at UTK lost a valued PhD student from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Sheikh MD Mushfiqur Rahman, to a sudden heart attack. His passing has left behind his wife, Kheum A Zannat, and their 2-year-old daughter.

This tragedy has been especially devastating due to the family’s circumstances. While their daughter is a U.S. citizen, his wife was in the United States on an F-2 dependent visa. As a result, the family is now required to return to Bangladesh, their home country, within a very short time.

Bangladesh Students Association (BSA) at UT Knoxville is organizing this fundraiser to exclusively support the deceased’s wife and young daughter, who are now facing an uncertain future without their primary source of income.

Given the evolving nature of the family’s situation, the specific categories of expenditure and exact allocation of funds may vary over time based on their most immediate and critical needs. Here are a few examples of possible sectors where funds may be used:

  • Funeral and repatriation-related expenses
  • Outstanding medical, legal, or personal bills
  • Travel costs for returning to Bangladesh
  • Short-term living and medical support for the wife and child of the deceased

This fundraiser represents a collective effort by Mushfiqur's well-wishers to stand beside a grieving family in their darkest moment. Your kindness and generosity will help ensure that a young mother and her child are not left alone in navigating unimaginable loss.

I would like to state clearly and transparently that I will not receive or retain any personal benefit from these funds. I am serving only as the organizer of this campaign, and 100% of the net proceeds will be transferred to the beneficiary. Due to the nature of crowdfunding and the inability to track or process individual contributions, donations to this campaign are non-refundable under any circumstances.
