Hi, my name is Nicki and I live on the road in Sandy where 3, possibly 4, homes were devastated by fire today.

I am starting this as a neighbour, with support from friends and the community of the families. Thankfully everyone and their pets got out safely, but the families in those homes have lost everything - homes, clothes, furniture, and irreplaceable memories, photos and keepsakes. One couple are due to be married and have lost everything.

On top of that, many other homes on our street have been left with severe smoke damage and can't be properly lived in until they have had a deep clean.

I previously owned a cleaning company and we did many post-fire cleans, so I am volunteering to help clean the smoke-damaged homes, and coordinating other volunteers who have come forward.

The community support has been incredible - my post today has reached over 25,000 people - with so many asking how they can donate.

This GoFundMe is for ALL affected households - the 3-4 houses that have been lost, plus any homes with smoke damage.

How funds will be used:

100% of funds (minus GoFundMe transaction fee) will go to the affected households. The majority will be split equally between the 3-4 families who lost their homes to help with immediate essentials - emergency clothing, toiletries, food, temporary accommodation costs, and basics for children and pets. A portion will also help the smoke-damaged homes with specialist cleaning costs and replacement of items ruined by smoke like bedding, curtains and soft furnishings.

I will add a nominated family contact as the beneficiary so money goes directly to them, not via me, and I will post updates for transparency.

The cause of the fire is with the fire investigation team, so please do not speculate in the comments.

If you can't donate, please share. Every £5 helps. Thank you so much from our street.
