Help Us Lay Preston Jahan Bryson Fabers, Our Beloved 18-Year-Old to Rest

Our family is creating this fundraiser as we face a loss we never imagined we would have to endure.

Yesterday, our beloved family member, who had just turned 18 years old, was tragically killed in a shooting while riding a city bus home from adult school.

In a moment that no 18-year-old should ever have been placed in, he tried to protect his friend from being shot. He gave his life to save a life.

Those words carry so much weight for our family because they speak to the heart of the young man we loved. At only 18, he had an entire life ahead of him. He should have been coming home from school, making plans for his future, laughing with his family and friends, and figuring out who he wanted to become. Instead, our family is now preparing to lay him to rest.

His death was sudden, violent, and completely unexpected. Nothing could have prepared his parents, siblings, or the rest of our family for the heartbreak we are experiencing or the financial responsibility that comes with having to bury someone so young.

His parents is grieving the unimaginable loss of their son while also caring for their other children with very limited income. Because there were no burial arrangements or financial preparations in place, our family is coming together and doing everything we can to give him the proper homegoing service he deserves.

We are asking our family, friends, community, and anyone whose heart is touched by his story to please help us.

Donations will go toward funeral and burial expenses and helping his mother and siblings as they navigate the difficult days ahead.
