Exum Mountain Guides is the oldest climbing school in the United States, and its history needs to be preserved!
Special Project #1: In the Grand Teton National Park Archives there are recordings of interviews with multiple early guides, including many who are no longer with us: Paul Petzoldt, Glenn Exum, Bill Byrd, Barry Corbet, and more. The recordings are in mini cassette format, and the park requires them to be transferred into a digital format, done by an archival quality firm, to listen to them. Please help raise the funds to make these recordings available, not only for this history project but for future researchers. GOAL of $2900 REACHED; RECORDINGS NOW DIGITIZED
Special Project #2: In summer 2021 we discovered three file boxes of old Exum files from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, and they need to be scanned, data entered, and organized. The files include letters, records of daily guiding assignments and clients, and more. GOAL OF $5400 REACHED; FILES ALMOST ALL SCANNED
Special Project #3: To support the writing process through a book writing coach and other professional development opportunities such as writing conferences and workshops, editors, etc – and the data entry and scanning continue. GOAL OF $7500 REACHED; BOOK PROPOSAL IN THE WORKS
Continuing Support: All of the above!
