Support the Eversmeyer Family
If you're lucky enough to know Andrea and Peter, you know that they are two of the kindest, most generous and loving people you could meet. Andrea and Peter have three children that they are raising to have their same hearts of gold. Last Saturday, 6/19, Andrea went into labor with their fourth child, a girl. Esther Rose was born the following day, Sunday 6/20 (Father's Day) at 8:38am. Esther Rose had been diagnosed early in Andrea's second trimester with a genetic condition called Trisomy 13, meaning the sweet girl was given an extra 13th chromosome. Doctors warned the family that their daughter would likely not live full term, as the complications that come with an extra chromosome often do not support full development of the child. As you can imagine, this news was devastating. Andrea and Peter and our whole families (and many of you!) got to praying for this baby, that she would live as long as God would allow. We all wanted to meet her, and to love her for as long as possible. Esther Rose was born at 36 weeks, and weighed 3 pounds, 15 ounces. She lived and breathed and let us hold her for a whole day and half before she passed away. This time was not enough but her doctors did not expect her to live more than a few minutes, or at most a couple hours. A day and a half gifted much of her extended family time to meet her and all three of her older siblings got to give her hugs and kisses.
It is impossible to imagine this kind of pain if you have not experienced it. Andrea and Peter remain strong in their faith during this time of loss and healing. We would love to come around them and ease their way as much as possible. Many of you have reached out looking for a way to support them and have brought meals, etc. Thank you! Below I have outlined expenses they are facing, and how we can support them. Peter is taking unpaid leave from work and we'd love to give him some extra time before he returns.
While visiting Andrea, Peter, and Esther in the hospital, I saw the depth of their generosity shine. In the midst of what they were experiencing themselves, they learned that Esther's doctor was experiencing his own personal loss and was having a hard time focusing. Andrea and Peter stopped everything to pray for him, to lay hands on him, cry with him and show him love. This is just who they are, they give to others fully, no matter what they are experiencing themselves. That is love.
With their permission, I've set up this fundraiser to help support in the following areas:
-$1,000 for a memorial service and cremation
-$3,000 to cover unpaid leave for Peter
-$1,000 to cover groceries and food services to lighten the burden
Anything above the $5,000 goal will provide housecleaning services for as long as we can swing it! What a blessing it would be for them to have this added support during a time of grief and healing for the whole family.
