The best word to describe the Espy family is RESILIENT. Mike, Lisa, Bella, Hayes, and Farren have faced more challenges in recent years than any family should, but they continue to meet each one with strength, courage, and love. Today, we are reaching out with humble hearts to ask for support during an incredibly difficult time as the emotional and financial weight has become overwhelming.
Mike and Lisa, the proud parents of three amazing kids, are the heart behind Thomas Hill Organics (THO) and have always given generously to the SLO County community. Since purchasing THO in 2022, their family has worked tirelessly to keep the restaurant thriving despite the post-pandemic struggles. THO is truly a family-run labor of love and family owned business.
In 2023, Mike was diagnosed with colon cancer, placing enormous strain on their family and business. Lisa became a full-time caregiver while continuing to run the restaurant, and their children stepped up in remarkable ways. After a hard-fought battle, Mike was declared cancer-free only for a car to crash into their restaurant shortly after, causing major damage. Still, the Espys pushed forward.
In 2025, Mike received devastating news: his cancer had returned aggressively as Stage 4. Treatment began immediately. Most recently, his surgery was postponed due to serious blood clots, adding yet another layer of hardship.
The Espys have always shown up for their community, now it’s our turn to show up for them.
Please consider supporting this incredible family as they face the challenges of cancer once again. Your donation, share, or message of encouragement truly makes a difference and brings them one step closer to stability and healing.
Thank you for standing with the Espy family.
"Life doesn't get easier or more forgiving; we get stronger and more resilient." - Steve Maraboli
