Hello!

We are Division 1E, a group of hardworking engineering students from California State Maritime Academy, preparing to embark on our Summer Sea Term aboard the Training Ship Golden Bear.

Unlike the typical "cruise ship" image people might have, our summer is filled with intense hands-on training, maintenance, and real-world engineering work — for two straight months at sea. It’s challenging, but it’s exactly the experience we need to sharpen our skills and prepare for the maritime industry.

This summer, Division 1E has set a clear goal: to be the sharpest, most professional engine division on the ship. To keep our morale high and give everyone a much-needed break, we are raising funds to support an "overnight" stay when we reach foreign ports. These overnights allow us a short chance to recharge away from the ship — and ensure that no member of our division is left out due to financial limitations.

Traditionally, upperclassmen organize small fundraisers to make these overnights possible. The money raised will help cover overnight stays for both our returning upperclassmen and our freshmen, allowing everyone to experience the best of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
