We are a group of girls cycling the length of Sri Lanka – 842km from north to south – to raise funds for a cause close to our hearts: providing higher education for 13 orphaned girls in Akuressa, Sri Lanka.

Why Sri Lanka?

I recently spent time in Sri Lanka, volunteering as an English teacher and mentor at a small orphanage which is the home to 13 incredible girls, aged 9 to 17. Our days together were filled with laughter, learning, sports and friendship – despite the language barriers, they all became my Nangis (little sisters).

These girls have so much potential, but they face immense challenges. Without access to further education, their opportunities for the future are limited. This is where we need your help.

Empowering Girls Through Education

We believe in a future where every girl can learn, lead, and pursue her dreams. Education is the key to unlocking that future, but for many orphaned children, higher education is simply out of reach due to financial constraints.

Vocational training courses are vital in Sri Lanka, providing skills that open doors to enter the workforce and a brighter future. These opportunities are especially important for girls like those in Akuressa, who may face limited educational opportunities.

We are luck to be able to work together with a local Sri Lankan NGO to provide the girls with English classes, mentorship and guidance, and extra curriculum activities to best prepare them for the future and their further studies.
