On August 17th the Eagle family’s world was turned upside down when their son, Griffin, was in a devastating car accident. He was rushed to the ICU trauma unit, where he spent over a week fighting for his life with a serious brain injury, requiring surgery. No parent can ever prepare for a phone call like that, and these past couple of weeks have been the hardest of their lives — filled with sleepless nights, endless prayers, and the uncertainty of what tomorrow will bring.

By God’s grace, so many prayers and the incredible work of his medical team, Griffin has shown slow and steady signs of progress. He was moved to the Kennedy Kreiger Center at John Hopkins to the acute brain injury unit, and is now released to continue the process of healing with PT, OT and speech therapy at home. The journey ahead is long. Healing from a Traumatic Brain Injury is measured in months, sometimes even years, and will require ongoing therapy, medical care, and time away from work so his parents can be by Griffin’s side.

On top of the emotional toll, the financial strain is overwhelming, and navigating insurance is an ongoing battle. Since time is of the essence to get Griffin the immediate cognitive help he desperately needs, the family is facing ballooning costs of making this happen.

This GoFundMe has been created to help lift some of that burden — covering medical bills not met by insurance, rehabilitation costs, transportation, and the many day-to-day expenses that add up quickly.
