Hi, we are the Duus (pronounced “Duce”) family.
We are reaching out in every way possible to raise funds for legal council.
Why?
We have been fighting for justice for our 12-year-old son, who is a victim of sexual assault that took place in his middle school bathroom.
We waited for four days, believing the school would call us about what happened. They never did. We—his family—had to reach out to the school ourselves.
We learned the school never reported the assault to the County Board of Education or the State Board of Education. A forensic interview finally took place—10 months later—but only after we contacted CPS as directed by State police. At that point, CPS and local police interviewed our child.
This incident has been hidden from public view and accountability since September 10, 2024. Our son is now in trauma counseling and has lost his sense of safety in school.
It’s time to hold schools responsible for their lack of action and protection when it comes to bullying and sexual assault. No more hiding it under the rug.
Please help us fight—not only for our son, but to change the way schools in West Virginia are held accountable.
