Help Jeff "The Dude" Dowd Recover After Emergency Surgery

Dear Friends, Fans, and Fellow Travelers,

We are reaching out on behalf of our legendary friend, Jeff "The Dude" Dowd — the real-life inspiration behind The Big Lebowski’s most iconic character. Jeff has always embodied generosity, creativity, and joy, but today, he’s the one who needs our help.

Recently, Jeff underwent emergency brain surgery in Seattle and has been recovering at Broadview Center Rehab. Unfortunately, his health needs remain critical, and Jeff is now preparing to return to Providence Cedars-Sinai Cherry Hill Hospital for additional emergency procedures — hopefully today.

The road ahead will be long and uncertain — with further surgeries, ongoing medical treatment, rehabilitation therapy, and housing support needed as he regains his strength.

Over the years, Jeff has been a tireless supporter of independent filmmakers, artists, and dreamers. He’s shown up for so many of us — now it’s our turn to show up for him.

Emergency medical expenses at Providence Cedars-Sinai Cherry Hill and beyond
