Support the Dreffs Family During Doug's Treatment
Donation protected
This is an organized fundraiser on behalf of and for the Dreffs family. All proceeds will be used to support this family for the next 4-5 months while Doug is out of work. Doug has an amazing supportive wife, Kodi, and they share 4 young children: Caroline, Clayton, Kasey, and Cash. They have been immediately uprooted from their home in Texas and are now trying to find housing in Florida near the Mayo Clinic. Kodi is struggling with having to give up her veterinary job in Texas to be next to her husband during this time, all while helping their children adjust to new schools while staying with friends and family. It’s a horrible feeling not to be able to provide for your family, especially with the holidays nearing.
On the morning of October 23, 2024, Doug decided after a long few months of not feeling well, he would check into the local ER and see why he was so tired, weak, and bruising. He has been barely functioning with a hemoglobin of critically low levels of 3.0 (this is life-threatening). He was delivered news that would change his and his family's world. Doug was transferred to an El Paso hospital with multiple blood tests and bone marrow biopsies that would first tell him he has leukemia. He has been transferred to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. They have since retested him and diagnosed him with Aplastic Anemia. This would require an inpatient stay with twice-weekly blood transfusions for 4-5 months with a possibility of bone marrow transplants and chemotherapy in the near future. Doug will not be released or able to work during this time.
Doug is a valued and dedicated lineman and loves his trade. His family has followed and supported him being away for storms, disasters, and upgrading and maintaining the electrical grid across the US. Doug and his family have given many years to the trade and made friends and family along the way. He is the most upbeat, happy, and knowledgeable person, always ready to help anyone in need.
Please consider donating and sharing their story. This fundraiser is set up to give them 4 months of support, acquire a deposit for housing, and stay afloat while they tread the next few months of uncertainty.
For those not comfortable with donating here, Kodi has a direct Venmo account:
