Support Amy’s Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Amy Garner Dean, a life long hair stylist, devoted mother, and proud grandmother was diagnosed with incurable Stage IV cancer on October 31, 2023 during a doctor’s visit for flu-like symptoms. The diagnosis has been devastating for her and her family.
After 30 years of standing on her feet to provide a living for her family, Amy was forced into a sudden and early retirement due to the aggressive chemo. With no cure on the horizon, Amy’s battle is one for time. The treatments are expensive and challenging but they provide her with an opportunity for precious years with her husband, children, and grandchild.
Due to the loss of her income, Marty, Amy's husband, has taken a job back home in Alaska to try and keep them afloat until financial assistance kicks in. For those of you who’ve lived through this, you know how long that can take. The family has begun downsizing but it won’t be enough. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to help Amy and Marty survive in the meantime. Even with the family’s efforts, it won’t be able to replace Amy’s income. With the cost of treatments, their savings will be gone before spring.
In Marty’s absence, their children, Alyssa and Matthew will step in to help with the day-to-day while Matthew’s son, Ricky provides all of the snuggles and emotional support his grandma can handle. Even in the face of this immense adversity, Amy has remained positive and is approaching the challenge head on.
Between her career as a hair stylist (and unofficial therapist), her involvement with youth sports, and her deep roots in the Kenai & Anchorage communities, Amy has touched hundreds if not thousands of lives in a positive manner.
Our communities here in Idaho and Alaska are known for coming together to help one of their own. We kindly ask for your support in any way you can. Your donation will help alleviate the financial strain on Amy and her family during this difficult journey. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference.
Thank you for your kindness and compassion. Together, we can make a positive impact on Amy's battle against cancer.
