UPDATE
On June 20th Tate was moved to UPMC Pittsburgh where he still is as of August 18th. Tate has come a long way since his transfer from WVU, but still has a long road ahead of him. Tate is currently awaiting a stem cell transplant. Once the transplant is done he will have to continue treatment in the hospital for at least 3 months.

Tate has been diagnosed with CVID (Common Variable Immunodeficiency) and experienced his first hospital admission at just 3 months old. He has had multiple other hospital stays between then and now. Tate is now just shy of 8 months old and has spent the last 29 days in WVU’s Children’s Hospital. He has spent many of those days in the ICU and was just moved to a regular room on Monday with the goal of him being discharged this week/weekend. After discharge from WVU, Tate’s parents (Shawn & Rachael) will be taking him to Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C., a leading hospital in immunology, to meet with a new team of doctors.
Shawn is the founder and pastor of Pillar of Faith Church in Fredericktown, PA and is a small business owner which means he has no paid time off. Rachael works at WVU Hospital, but between maternity leave and time off for hospital stays with Tate, she has exhausted her FMLA and PTO. The goal of this GoFund Me is to provide some financial assistance for travel expenses to get Tate to the specialist he needs to see and for any other medical expenses/hospital bills that they have or may arise. Shawn and Rachael are loving, caring people who have helped and continue to help others even during their own trials and tribulations so let’s take our turn in helping them.
