Support the Craig Ernzen Family

Hello!  We are a 4 Year Old Kindergarten team of teachers who are reaching out to all who are willing to help cover medical costs and lost wages for a dear co-worker of ours (Michelle Ernzen).

Michelle's husband, Craig, is a 34 year old father, husband, son, friend, and all around fun guy!  Craig has a step daughter Raigan (14), a son Beckham (5) and dog Paisley! Craig is a client service consultant for Quest Analytics. Michelle is a 4 year old kindergarten Special Ed teacher in the West DePere School District. Craig and Michelle recently found the perfect home for their family and moved in before the school year started.  They enjoy trips to southern WI and Iowa to visit Craig’s family, cheering on the Cubs (and the Brewers too!), playing board games, and being together as a family.

In early January, Craig was dealing with what he thought was a stubborn sinus infection. He was having intense headaches and facial pressure for a couple of weeks. After seeing multiple doctors they began to treat him for migraines instead. When he continued to not feel well, he was sent for an annual eye exam to update his prescription. It was at this appointment, the optometrist noticed he had swelling around his optic nerves. She immediately sent him to the ER. Once he arrived there, he was taken for an MRI. The MRI showed he had a brain mass. He was referred to a neurosurgery team in the following days.

On January 28, he met with the neurosurgery team and it was confirmed- Craig had a good size tumor on the right side of his brain.  On February 5th, he underwent a 3.5 hour surgery to remove the tumor. The surgery was able to spare his gross motor system; however his sensory system was impacted. Craig is receiving both physical and occupational therapy at home to help regain those skills.

On Monday, February 15 Craig and Michelle were told that the tumor was indeed a glioblastoma (cancerous tumor). The surgeon remains confident that he got out everything he could, but Craig would have to start a cancer treatment plan once he is healed from surgery. This type of cancer is incurable and they are unsure of what the future holds.

As of now February 23, Craig and Michelle are researching all of the treatment options and have multiple appointments set up in the next couple of weeks. Once a treatment plan is in place, we will try to update this page.

If you can support the Ernzen family to help out with the present and future medical expenses, travel expenses for meeting with different cancer doctor/teams, plus all of the lost wages for both Craig and Michelle (as Michelle will need to be off of work for at least a few months to help take care of Craig and the family) it would be much appreciated! Michelle has given so much to her students and families over the last 16 years of teaching. She has given so much to our WDP community in the last 8 years. Please join me in helping to give back to them. Also please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers!
