Support the Cory Elementary Live Like Lincoln Mural Project

I’m thrilled to share that we are in the final phases of the mural project honoring the "Live Like Lincoln" legacy at Cory. This mural will serve as a lasting tribute to Lincoln’s spirit, inspiring our students to spread love and kindness every day, just as he did. It will be located near the doors that our 4th and 5th graders use to enter and exit Cory.

One special feature of the mural will be interactive butterfly wings, allowing students to "spread their wings" and be reminded to carry Lincoln’s legacy forward. Due to district policy, we faced a few obstacles along the way, but at last, we have an aluminum panel mounted onto the concrete wall where the beautiful mural will be painted. The added panel requirement came with additional costs, and we are asking for everyone’s help to fund this project. We have been fortunate to raise $800 simply from word of mouth and are trying to raise the additional $3,918.45 through this GoFundMe. Thank you very much for your consideration and support!

For those who may not be familiar with Lincoln’s story and the Live Like Lincoln Legacy, here’s a little more information:

On August 8, 2024, Brian and Traci Abeyta lost their 10-year-old son, Lincoln, to complications from epilepsy and Dravet Syndrome. It’s no exaggeration to say Lincoln was a ray of light. His infectious smile, joyful and positive attitude, bravery as the 13th person to participate in a trial for Dravet Syndrome patients, love for playing and watching sports (especially his Rockies and Broncos), and the overwhelming strength he displayed when running towards you for a hug are just a few of the qualities we will all miss terribly.

To Live Like Lincoln (LLL) means to live each day with love in your heart for others, a smile on your face to light up the room, hugs for everyone, kindness and good friendship, and finding joy in everything you do—even when it’s hard!
