This morning, our much-loved Corner Store Menangle was tragically destroyed by fire.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt. However, the building has been badly damaged and the future of the business is now uncertain. Shane and Marcel, the owners of The Corner Store, are now facing the heartbreaking task of assessing the damage and working out whether they can rebuild.

The Store is more than just a place to grab coffee, food, flowers or groceries. It is the heart of our village. It is where we meet, catch up, share stories, and are greeted with warmth, familiar faces and a smile. For so many of us, The Corner Store has been part of what makes Menangle such a special place to live.

The fire has also left 16 staff suddenly without work. These are the people who have served our coffee, prepared our food, looked after our community, and helped create the welcoming atmosphere that we all love.

Menangle has always rallied around those in need, and right now, the people who have given so much to our village need our help.

We are asking the community to chip in whatever they can. Perhaps the amount you might usually spend on a coffee, breakfast, lunch or flowers from The Store. Every contribution, big or small, will help support Shane, Marcel and their team as they deal with this tragedy and begin to work out what comes next.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
