Support The Coop Family and Thomas’s Fight Against Cancer

My name is Jessica Alexander, close family friend to Blair Smotherman Coop since Kindergarten. Together with her family and friends, we are asking for help and support from The Coop Family’s community!

We are reaching out to ask for your support for Thomas and Blair Coop, lifelong residents of Shelbyville, who are facing an incredibly challenging time. Thomas, a dedicated farmer, has been unable to work since early June due to severe health issues.

On June 13th, Thomas was admitted to Vanderbilt for back pain, and the following day, doctors discovered a tumor on his spine. A PET scan on June 15th revealed that the cancer had spread to his kidney, rib, lungs, and his renal artery. He was diagnosed with metastatic renal cell carcinoma, stage 4.

Thomas underwent a two-part spinal surgery from June 16th to June 18th to remove the tumor. Since June 28th, he has been undergoing treatment to combat this aggressive cancer.

Thomas and Blair have two wonderful children: Weston, a 20-year-old junior at MTSU, and Berkley, a 9-year-old in 3rd grade at Thomas Magnet School. Despite the circumstances, Blair continues to work full-time to support the family. However, she is not compensated for the hours she misses to care for Thomas and their family.

We are seeking your generosity to help alleviate the financial burden on the Coop family during this difficult time. Donations will go towards medical expenses, daily living costs, and ensuring the family can focus on what truly matters—Thomas's recovery and their children's well-being.
