Help Us Honor Cobee’s Life and Support His Surviving Brother
A Family’s Heartbreaking Plea for Love, Healing, and Support
My name is Rachel, and I am the great-aunt of two precious little boys whose lives have been forever changed by an unimaginable tragedy. Today, I come before you with a broken heart, asking for your prayers, compassion, and financial support as our family navigates one of the most devastating experiences we have ever faced.
On October 26, 2026, our family received the heartbreaking news that my four-year-old great-nephew, Cobee Cooks, had tragically lost his life following horrific physical abuse. His brother survived but suffered serious injuries and remains hospitalized, receiving medical care as he begins what may be a long road to physical and emotional recovery.
As a family, we are devastated. We are grieving the loss of one precious child while praying for the healing and protection of another.
Remembering Our Sweet Cobee
Cobee was only four years old, but he brought so much love, laughter, and joy into our family. He was affectionate, playful, and full of energy. He loved to eat, loved to play, and had a special way of making the funniest little faces just to make everyone smile.
He was our little burst of sunshine, always full of life and personality.
When I think about Cobee, I don’t want his life to be defined by the terrible circumstances surrounding his death. I want people to know that he was a beautiful little boy who deserved to grow up surrounded by love, laughter, and endless possibilities.
He should have had the opportunity to celebrate more birthdays, make childhood memories, go to school, and grow into the young man God created him to be.
Instead, our family is now faced with the heartbreaking reality of planning his funeral.
Cobee was more than a news headline. He was our baby, our family, and a precious life that mattered.
What makes this tragedy even more painful is watching my nephew, Bryan, the father of these two boys, face something no parent should ever have to endure.
Bryan is grieving the death of one son while trying to remain strong for his surviving child, who has experienced injuries and trauma that no child should ever know.
Before this tragedy, Bryan and other family members had expressed concerns about the children’s safety. Our family made attempts to intervene, including reaching out to child protective services and law enforcement, in hopes of ensuring the boys were safe.
Now, instead of watching both of his sons grow up together, Bryan is preparing to lay one child to rest while doing everything he can to help his other son heal.
To make matters even more difficult, Bryan’s employment with Amazon has been jeopardized because of the time he needs away from work to care for his son, make funeral arrangements, and address the legal matters surrounding this tragedy.
At a time when he should be able to focus entirely on his children and his own grief, he is also facing tremendous financial uncertainty.
As his aunt, it breaks my heart to see him carrying so much pain and responsibility at once.
Helping Cobee’s Brother Heal
While we mourn Cobee, we are also deeply concerned about his surviving brother.
He has already endured more pain and trauma than any child should ever experience. His recovery will require much more than medical treatment. He will need patience, reassurance, stability, counseling, and a loving environment where he can begin to feel safe again.
There may be ongoing medical appointments, rehabilitation, trauma-focused mental health services, clothing, personal necessities, and other resources needed to support his recovery.
Our family wants to ensure that he has every opportunity to heal physically, emotionally, and mentally.
We cannot undo what has happened, but we can surround him with the love, care, and protection he deserves.
Why We Are Asking for Your Help
I am organizing this GoFundMe to help relieve some of the financial burdens Bryan and our family are facing during this heartbreaking time.
Your generous donations will help provide:
Funeral and burial expenses: Giving our sweet Cobee a beautiful and dignified homegoing service.
Medical care and recovery: Supporting his brother’s ongoing medical treatment, follow-up care, and rehabilitation needs.
Mental health and trauma counseling: Helping his brother and family members process the emotional impact of this tragedy.
Clothing and essential necessities: Providing items needed to create a safe, comfortable, and stable environment for his surviving brother.
Household and living expenses: Helping Bryan maintain financial stability while caring for his son and grieving the loss of Cobee.
Transportation and legal-related expenses: Assisting with travel, appointments, and necessary matters arising from this tragedy.
From My Heart to Yours
As a great-aunt, I never imagined that I would be asking strangers to help us bury one of our babies.
Our family should be celebrating Cobee’s childhood, watching him play, laughing at his funny faces, and enjoying all the little moments that make being a family so special.
Instead, we are trying to make sense of a loss that words cannot adequately describe.
I cannot bring Cobee back. I cannot take away the pain his father is experiencing or erase the trauma his brother has endured. But I can use my voice to ask for help, to honor Cobee’s memory, and to make sure this family does not have to face these overwhelming burdens alone.
No donation is too small. Whether you can give $5, $20, $50, or more, every contribution will make a meaningful difference. And if you are unable to donate, please consider sharing our story and keeping our family in your prayers.
Above all, I ask that you remember Colby not for how his life ended, but for the love, laughter, and joy he brought into this world during his four precious years.
Help us give Cobee the beautiful farewell he deserves, help his brother find a path toward healing, and help their father find some measure of stability during this unimaginable time.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness, prayers, generosity, and love.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Rachel
Cobee’s Loving Great-Aunt
Rest peacefully, our sweet Cobee. You were loved beyond measure, and your light will never be forgotten.
