Help us raise $5,000 to support women, children, and families in a coffee-growing community in northern Peru.
When you buy a cup of coffee, you are connected to the farmers and families who grow it. But in many coffee-producing communities, access to resources like education and safe community spaces are limited, as are opportunities for women and youth. This fundraiser is an opportunity to change that narrative.
Aromas del Valle's community-led vision
In 2026, Aromas del Valle, a community-led coffee cooperative in northern Peru that brings together approximately 600 coffee-producing families, joined The Chain Collaborative (TCC)'s Community-Led Development (CLD) Incubator program. Through the CLD Incubator, community-based organizations in coffee-growing regions identify their own priorities in collaboration with community members, and then design, carry out, and measure the impact of their own community-led projects.
At Aromas del Valle, the women of the cooperative have identified an important priority through the CLD Incubator: creating a shared community library and learning space for women, children, and families. They have also identified the importance of enhancing leadership and decision-making opportunities for women.
Through the CLD Incubator, their plan is to adapt an existing community space to create and stock a community library/learning center, which will foment a more welcoming environment for education, recreation, connection, and social cohesion. They will additionally establish a women’s committee within the cooperative to coordinate the project. The women's committee intends to develop a comprehensive training program for women farmers focused on leadership, financial literacy, sustainable farming, and coffee quality — and they plan to host all resulting learning sessions in the community library space.
How your donation will help
Organized by Adrift Coffee, participating Knoxville coffee shops are supporting Aromas del Valle to bring their community-led vision to life. Both Adrift Coffee and Remedy Coffee are directing a portion of their sales of Aromas del Valle's coffee to this campaign, while encouraging their customers to get involved. Husmus Studio and Waiting Room are also encouraging customer support. Together, let's raise $5,000 to support Aromas del Valle to build and stock a community library and women's training center in Peru.
