Hello, my name is Mackenzie, a close friend of the Colón family. This week, my dear friend faced one of the hardest and most heartbreaking moments a pet parent can endure. Her sweet dog, Beau, became ill and had to be rushed to the emergency vet. There they discovered he had Lyme disease, which had already begun causing organ failure. After doing everything possible to help him, they made the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye and let Beau go peacefully, surrounded by love.

Beau wasn’t just a dog, he was family. He was there through every move, every deployment, every lonely night, and every joyful reunion. He brought comfort, laughter, and unconditional love into their lives every single day. Losing him has left their hearts broken, and the unexpected emergency veterinary bills have created an even heavier burden during an already stressful time.

To make matters worse, her husband is currently serving in the military, and with the ongoing government shutdown, they’ll be going without pay for an unknown amount of time. The money that went toward Beau’s emergency care was meant to cover essential expenses like their mortgage and household bills, leaving them in an incredibly difficult financial position during an already painful time.
