Seven years ago today, I lost my little brother, Garrett. September is National Recovery Month, and I can’t think of a more meaningful way to honor his life than by supporting The Chris Atwood Foundation, an organization dedicated to bringing hope, healing, and resources to those impacted by the disease of addiction. The Foundation provides Narcan (an opioid overdose reversal drug) to those who need it, funds sober living opportunities, and offers training for peer recovery coaches (life-saving programs that bring real change to individuals and families).
Garrett lived to make people laugh, to bring joy into any room, and to encourage others to really LIVE. The anniversary of his passing always hits me like a ton of bricks, filling me with emotions that range all across the spectrum. But today, instead of getting lost in that chaos, I want to channel it into something that creates peace and possibility for others who are fighting this disease every single day.
If you feel called, I invite you to join me in honoring Garrett’s spirit by supporting The Chris Atwood Foundation. Together, we can carry forward the joy and love he gave so freely, and make a difference in the lives of others.
Thank you,
Devon
