Dear Friends,

As many of you are aware in March of 2023 our family experienced the unimaginable heartbreak of losing our son, Charles (“CT”), after a long, courageous seven-year battle with addiction. As we creep up on the two year anniversary of his loss I’d like to make his foundation a reality with your help. CT was a bright, loving young man who fought hard to overcome his struggles, but the system failed him—and us—when we needed it most.

One of the biggest challenges we faced during CT’s recovery was the way insurance companies cut off funding for treatment, even when medical and therapeutic professionals insisted that more care was needed. Once insurance was exhausted, we were left with treatment costs exceeding $10,000 a month. As a civil servant, I simply couldn’t afford to continue his care. CT was released prematurely from treatment, and just months later, we lost him to a fentanyl overdose.

This story isn’t unique to us. Thousands of families across the country face the same impossible decision—how to afford the lifesaving care their loved one needs when insurance says “no more.”

Our Mission:

To honor CT’s memory, our family is launching a foundation that will provide financial support for families who, like us, have exhausted their insurance coverage but still need treatment to reach full recovery. Our goal is to create a publicly-supported fund that can bridge the gap between insurance limitations and the completion of necessary treatment programs.

We believe no family should ever have to choose between their loved one’s life and an unaffordable bill. Every dollar raised will go directly to helping those in need continue their recovery journey, ensuring that treatment doesn’t stop when it’s needed most.

How You Can Help:

We are aiming to raise $1,300,000 but any amount is appreciated to kickstart this initiative. These funds will be used to provide grants to families in crisis, covering the gap in costs when insurance falls short with the ultimate goal of providing our own facility with staffing. With your support, we can prevent what happened to our family from happening to others. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to saving lives and protecting families from the devastating impact of addiction.
