The government is shut down. In November, the state government is set to stop food support benefits because of lack of funding. 1.4 million people in Michigan rely on this food aid. The pressure on food organizations in Michigan is already high, and is about to reach a crisis.

In 2024, the Capuchin Soup Kitchen supplied nearly 3.4 million pounds of food to the community at our food pantry, a 23 percent increase over the prior year.
