Support the Canet Cemetery Restoration

Hello, I am Lori Canet Wyatt. You may know me as a close or distant family member, a friend, neighbor, an acquaintance, club member, or maybe you don't know me at all. For my birthday this year, I am asking for donations to our family's Canet Cemetery for maintenance, repairs, and improvements.

My family are descendants of Vicente Canet, who sailed from Spain in 1824, was married in 1828, and was granted land, Rancho San Bernardo, in San Luis Obispo County. While lands have been sold, we are fortunate to still have a historic family cemetery from 1880 in Morro Bay that provides burial sites for his descendants today, at no cost.

The Canet Cemetery has always been maintained and funded by the sweat and hard work of family members living in the area. As younger generations have moved away and older generations have passed, funding and maintenance of this historical site has become more challenging. The cemetery has many projects and maintenance needs, but these funds will be dedicated towards two specific projects that are scheduled to complete in 2025.

1. Gopher Wire (Phase 1) to eliminate damage and erosion around the graves. Phase 1 will include 100' of wire for graves on the lower, flat portion of the cemetery.

2. Restoration of the iron gate and fence (rust removal & repainting)
