Support the Campbell Family After Tragedy
Donation protected
Dear Family, Friends, and Extended Community,
We are overwhelmed and comforted by your prayers, words of encouragement, and offering of support. As many of you know, on January 8, 2025, we lost our Altadena family home. Our parents were Los Angelenos and moved to Altadena to purchase their first home in August 1975, 50 years ago. There were many material items, photos, and treasures that will forever be lost, but we thank God for the many memories that will always remain.
Our father, Leon (Red) Campbell, a Vietnam veteran, worked at the Post Office for many decades. He eventually retired and worked in his free time at H&R Block during tax season. He then focused full-time on being a grandfather to Zayala. Throughout the years, he has continued living in this home and taking care of it with vigilance. Cleaning up his yard was one of his favorite things to do. He relentlessly ensured not one leaf was on the grass or ground for long.
Dad truly loves everything about Altadena... the trees, the mountains, and the people. So many Altadenians know Dad from his many walks around the neighborhood or around the Rose Bowl. Jamie’s river walk in the front yard allowed him to experience community with his neighbors as many would stop and smile as they walked by.
We are so grateful that Dad survived this tragedy, and it is our hope to restore some of what was lost, including the joy of the beloved Altadena home we all loved so much.
Thank you for your many requests on what you can do to help. A couple of options are listed below:
- Donate to this GoFundMe to help us through this challenging time by covering unexpected costs that might not be covered by other sources of aid, and address the many aspects of recovery after a tragedy.
- There are MANY people in our community who are misplaced due to losing their only home. Consider donating to Victory Bible Church in Pasadena, as they are supporting many of the displaced in our congregation. You can do so here: https://lafirerelieffund.com
For those who have visited or walked by our family home, this is what it looks like post-devastation, with nothing salvageable remaining.
Thank you for your kindness and loving us through this difficult time. We praise God for life and family and live each day with a new level of gratitude!
