Support the Byun Family's Battle Against Lymphoma
Donation protected
We are coming together as a community to support the Byun family, the owners of Yori, a beloved Korean restaurant that opened in 2023 on Cooper Street in Agawam. In just a short time, Yori has become a cherished spot for locals, known for its welcoming atmosphere and delicious, authentic Korean food. Now, the Byun family needs support during a difficult time.
Mr. Byun, the chef and owner, has been diagnosed with stage 3 lymphoma. He is undergoing intensive chemotherapy, having completed 1 out of 6 rounds, with surgery planned once the tumor shrinks. Though the road ahead is tough, his doctors are hopeful due to his youth and strength.
The Byuns have three young children of 8 years, 4 years, and 8 months. With Mr. Byun unable to work and Mrs. Byun needing to care for him and their children full-time, they’ve had to close Yori, leaving them without income and facing medical and living expenses. While they are receiving some treatment through insurance, the financial burden remains uncertain and heavy.
The Suffield and Feeding Hills Korean church communities have been offering support, but they can only do so much. That’s why we need you. We are raising funds to help the Byun family cover their medical bills and living expenses to get through this trying time. Right now, there are no plans to reopen the restaurant, as their priority is Mr. Byun’s health and their family’s well-being.
Your donation, no matter the size, will make a big difference. Let’s show the Byun family the same kindness and generosity they’ve shown us since opening Yori. Together, we can help them through this crisis and show them the strength and compassion of our community.
Thank you for your support and compassion.
