We have an opportunity to give back to a man that has done so much for our community, our country, and his family as he is navigating a position that no one ever wishes to be in. Let's band together and support this devoted father of a blended family and honor the legacy of the mother who passed too soon.
Nevada County and beyond, please answer this call to action and help financially support a family that deserves so much more than we could ever give.

Recently, the Buck family experienced the loss of William Buck’s partner and mother of their blended family, Casey Perrine (Buck). Will and Casey spent the last 9.5 years bringing their blended family together, Will having sole custody of his oldest daughter, Casey having a son and daughter, and having one daughter together. Casey’s oldest son has resided with his father's side of the family since 2017.
Will Buck grew up in Nevada City prior to enlisting in the US Army in December of 2000 and being medically retired in June of 2012. Upon retirement, he returned to Nevada County and began becoming active in local Veteran Outreach endeavors. He served as a voting member of the NCCVC between 2012 and 2020, as Post 2655 VFW Commander for 2 years, VFW District 17 Commander for 2 years, as well as serving with the Nevada County All Veteran Stand Down from 2012-2020, and as President from 2015-2020. Casey served as the Secretary of the Stand Down from 2016-2020, having an absolute love of Veterans and helping our community become a better place.
After Casey’s unexpected passing, Will took just over 2 months off work and has since scaled back his hours to be more active as their father. Casey’s mother moved in to help Will as well. Due to Casey’s passing and the subsequent events, his family is experiencing some financial hardships due to lost wages and unexpected additional expenses. Will is a proud Veteran, not one to ask for help, but he is now. Looking back on not only his service to our country, he has been voted Nevada County Citizen of the Year by the community for his volunteer endeavors, Veteran of the Year by the Daughters of the American Revolution (both at the local level and winning the state award), as well as having received recognition multiple years by the California State Assembly for his volunteer efforts working with fellow Veterans.
