My name is Jenny Kazak and along with Suzanne Jensen, we are members of the concert team for the La Canada Choral Parents Association. On behalf of Jeff Brookey's family, we are setting up this Go Fund Me to help the the family rebuild after a devastating loss.
Jeff Brookey, the beloved choir director at La Cañada High School (LCHS), and his family tragically lost their home during the Eaton Fire. Jeff has been a dedicated educator at LCHS for 17 years, and his passion for music and his students has left a lasting impact on the hundreds of lives he has touched through his inspiring leadership and teaching. He has created a warm and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels welcome, even if they aren’t part of the choir program. His classroom is a hub of positivity, and lunchtime ping-pong games have become a favorite tradition among students.
In January 2009, Jeff and his wife, Suzanne, purchased their charming home in Altadena, which became a cherished gathering place for family, friends, and countless choir events. Jeff’s love for gardening turned their home into a beautiful haven, reflecting his care and dedication over the past 16 years.
Suzanne Brookey has also made a significant impact as the choir director at Sierra Vista High School in Baldwin Park, where she has taught for 20 years. Their son, Jaxon, a proud product of La Cañada schools, is now in his second year at Chapman University.
We recognize that this is a time of need for many in our community. The Brookey family, who have given so much to others, now need our support as they rebuild from this devastating loss. Let’s come together to show our gratitude for all they’ve contributed to our schools and community.
