We are going into 13 years of Matt dealing with prostate cancer. Although we are more blessed than most who have been diagnosed with cancer, it has taken it’s toll on us. Thirteen years of his cancer coming back each and every year means new, experimental, trial treatments. He has endured surgery removing 60 percent of his liver, chemo, more radiation than a body should be able to endure and drugs, drugs and more drugs. In the last two years our insurance premiums have gone from $1600.00 a month to what our new 2017 premiums are…$2500.00 a month. That doesn’t include our $10,000 deductible, prescription coverage which our insurance is covering less and less medications. His Lidocaine patches alone are $1,000 our cost. They bring him 15 to 20 percent relief from pain. One of his cancer medicines is $500 our cost. Matt is considered stage IV cancer. At this point his cancer is not curable they are just trying to keep his pain levels down to bearable. He has cancer in every bone in his body and from what we’ve been told cancer in the bone is one of the most painful cancers there is. We would have never dreamed what cancer has done to us physically, mentally, emotionally, much less financially. We are humbled beyond beyond belief for the love and support we’ve been shown already and can’t thank everyone enough. Our pastor calls 2017 the year of Hope….we agree….
