Founded in 2009 by award-winning Boston artist and teacher Damon Lehrer, Boston Figurative Art Center is an artist’s cooperative focusing primarily on figure drawing and painting. Located just outside of Boston in Somerville, MA, the center offers a variety of regularly scheduled sessions, which are run by a group of passionate volunteers. BFAC provides a welcoming setting for artists around the Boston areas to both hone their technical skills by working from life and to experiment with new ideas and techniques. It is a small but vibrant part of the local arts community which brings together artists ranging widely in age and artistic experience, encouraging discussion and artistic growth.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, BFAC was forced to close its door and to cancel all the sessions. When BFAC will be permitted to reopen by the city of Somerville is uncertain. The amount of time that it will take for the center to reestablish a stable financial footing is unpredictable. As BFAC relies on revenue from artist participation in order to pay rent, the persistent closure has made it difficult to ensure the center can survive this pandemic and have enough funds to continue serving the artist community in future.
Please consider donating whatever you can to help BFAC continue to pay rent for the coming few months until the center can fully resume its normal operation.
Thank you so much; we appreciate your support through this difficult time and welcome you to paint with us in future.
