My name is Lisa Dawley and last week my dear friends Catie and Erik Blake suffered a tragedy. It started with their beloved bulldog Lucy suffering an episode of full bloat. The emergency services available on the island were not adequate and she did not survive. 2 weeks later their dog Vivian escaped and was struck by a car. The Blakes immediately got on a boat and took Vivian to the Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists in Bourne. Vivian had both front legs shattered and liver damage. Sadly, she did not survive the procedure. In addition to losing these beloved animals Catie and Erik were given a bill of more than $20000.
