Early Saturday morning in Windburne, the Bickel family was awoken by flames and smoke engulfing their home. Fortunately, Maddex (a player on the Flood City State College 15U team), his dad Hays and his stepmom Tina made it out safely. The three were, however, life flighted to Pittsburgh and treated for smoke inhalation. Luckily, they have all since been released. The family not only lost their home, but all of their possessions and, sadly, their two bulldogs Chester and Diesel. It is my hope that we as the Flood City community can come together to help a family in need. This unimaginable loss will surely be emotionally tough to recover from, but also financially, despite insurance coverage. With that, I am asking you to contribute what you can. As the head coach of the 15U team, I want baseball to be a respite for this family. A small bit of normalcy in, what I imagine, is a traumatic and stressful time for the Bickels. Please contribute what you can. Any amount is helpful. Thank you for stepping up and demonstrating the generosity and kindness that makes the Flood City community special.
