Funds are needed to complete (i.e. to post-produce) a documentary film, 'The Bhote Khampa—A Lost Tibetan Tribe'. The Bhote Khampa live in the remote Far West of Nepal, and have for generations carried salt and rice on the backs of sheep and goats, trading these commodities between Tibet, Nepal, and India.

Their unique nomadic culture is fast disappearing, and they are struggling to adapt to modernization. Our film aims to capture the last of this way of life and to raise awareness about the Bhote Khampa, as well as to serve as a fundraising instrument that can help them make the transition towards new livelihoods.

The film will be completed both in English and Nepali, and will be shown to audiences in Nepal, Europe, and the USA. It will be dedicated to the late Hanna Rauber, the anthropologist who inspired us to tell the story of the Bhote Khampa.

We are looking to raise $48,845. The main funding requirements are $7,200 for the director's fees, $5,000 for a rough-cut edit, $8,000 for an expert editor, $6,750 for colour correction and sound editing, $2,000 for music and $3,675 to make a marketing trailer. A detailed/itemized budget can be made available to any prospective contributor upon request.

All contributors to this platform who wish to receive full operating accounts should email me at nceroberts at gmail

. Those who do will receive an initial report in September 2025, a second report six months thereafter, and a final account once the project is completed

'The Bhote Khampa—A Lost Tibetan Tribe' is directed by Shyam Karki. The executive producer is Nigel Roberts. Jamie Smith is the climate producer. The executive producer and climate producer have so far contributed approximately $50,000 to this project.
