Because of Brela Foundation was created to honor Brela’s life, legacy, and the lasting impact she made on the people who knew her. Brela spent five years battling an invisible illness. She lived with nausea, weakness, overwhelming fatigue, and the daily uncertainty of never knowing how she would feel from one day to the next. So much of what Brela endured could not be seen from the outside, making those difficult days even more isolating and challenging. Yet, even in the midst of so much pain, Brela remained a genuinely sweet and kind soul. She was smart, funny, quick-witted, and completely unique, with a personality, style, and spirit that were unmistakably her own. Brela had a way of leaving a lasting impression on the people around her, and her presence is deeply missed.

Because of Brela Foundation was created to carry that memory forward and turn Brela’s story into something that can help others. This fundraiser will help establish a scholarship at Truett McConnell College, where Brela studied English. It will also provide support and encouragement for individuals and families affected by Gastroparesis, EDS, and mental illness—causes that were deeply connected to Brela’s journey. Our hope is that, through this foundation, Brela’s life will continue to make a difference. We want to bring awareness to struggles that are often unseen, offer compassion to those who feel alone, and provide meaningful support to people walking difficult roads of their own.
