I'm seeking to raise funds for my best friend, whose daughter requires neurosurgery in September. My friend has dedicated her life to helping others as an exceptional nurse, teacher, and volunteer. She has also been a passionate fundraiser for a professional organization, championing scholarships and advancements in nursing practice. Mandy and her family were in Tunisia visiting her husband’s family when Lillian suddenly began to have a tonic-clonic seizure and stopped breathing. Mandy acted quickly to support her breathing and circulation and went immediately to the nearest hospital. She was started on medications and after coming back to the country had an MRI which showed a Cavernoma, or an abnormal mass of blood vessels in her brain which likely have been causing seizure activity for some time. The surgery to repair includes a craniotomy, resection, an expectation of speech deficit, neuro ICU monitoring and physical therapy after the fact.
