Support the Bax-Vitangcol Family After Eaton Fire

Donation protected
Hello. We are the Bax-Vitangcol Family- Keno, Darcy, Elliot, Juno and Bonnie, and we are one of the many who have been displaced due to the wildfire that occurred at Eaton Canyon in Altadena.

On the 7th of January, before any warnings had been issued, we could see the fires from our backyard engulfing the Eaton mountain. With it being that far, we had the assumption that it would not affect us at all. We even decided to leave our place for a minute to get flashlights at the local harbor freight, but as we traveled down New York Drive, we were suddenly faced with thick smoke everywhere. From then on we needed to act fast and head back home. As the smoke thickened and the blaze of the fire grew, we left our home in a hurry with literally a suitcase for the 3 of us and our dogs.

Unfortunately, our community is still currently unsafe for many houses and majority of our neighbors houses have burned down to the ground. There are still a great deal of burnt down debris, downed wires, and air quality is still unhealthy. Also, according to the La County Fire Department, there are still a number of hot spots in our area that can still create flare up’s. We are still uncertain as to when they will allow us to have access to our residence. As for now, we don’t know if our house is still standing. Despite missing the comfort of our own home, we are blessed enough to be lended a room to stay in temporarily in Koreatown.

If by the grace of God our home survives this tragedy, the latest update given by the speakers on the informational meetings stated that it would more than likely take anywhere between 6 weeks to 2 months before they can bring in a cleanup crew to properly and securely make sure that the home is safely liveable. That also doesn’t take into account that the 6 week to 2 month timeline would start when they lift evacuation orders, which seems that it wouldn’t be happening anytime soon..

Many are asking how can they help, so we have decided to create this gofundme in order to help us temporarily with our everyday essentials such as food, diapers, baby wipes, milk, clothes, toiletries, and emergency needs. Your support can make a real difference in our journey to recovery. This will be a long and difficult journey, but with your generosity, it will help ease our stress and burden. Anything from a dollar to sharing this post, we would be eternally grateful for any help you can give. Thank you for considering a donation. God be with you.
