The Batzel family—Kate, Brian, Ben, and Reid—are beloved members of the St. Augustine community. In a matter of moments, their lives were forever changed by an unimaginable tragedy. They experienced a devastating house fire several months ago, lost their beloved dog in the last month, and most heartbreakingly, lost Brian this past weekend.

Brian was a devoted husband and father who leaves behind his loving wife, Kate, and their two sons, Ben and Reid. This loss was sudden, and the family is now facing overwhelming grief while trying to navigate the difficult road ahead.

As Kate begins to process this unimaginable loss, she is also faced with the immense responsibility of rebuilding their lives—from securing temporary housing to replacing essential belongings and paying expenses, all while supporting her boys through this heartbreaking time.

The Batzel family has always been a source of kindness and generosity in our community. Whether supporting local charities or stepping up during hurricane season to help neighboring areas, they have consistently shown up for others without hesitation. Their compassion has touched so many lives.
