In these strange and challenging times while the world fights Covid-19, The Attic Theatre and Tread the Boards Theatre have been forced to take the decision to close their doors in Stratford-upon-Avon for the safety of our actors, creatives and audiences. Like many theatres and arts organisations, we are facing an uncertain future, but you can help change that for us.
Grown in the community, for the community
In 2009, local couple John-Robert Partridge and Catherine Prout founded Tread the Boards Theatre Company in The Attic Theatre with the vision of inspiring the local community to fall in love with fringe theatre. Over the last 11 years, with thanks to our audiences, we have grown from strength to strength becoming the number one fringe theatre in the area and winning many awards for our work.
From Shakespeare to Austen, horror to comedy and pantomime to new writing, we provide a springboard for local talent on the stage and behind the scenes. Our dedicated team of volunteers work with us every week to provide a unique experience for our audiences while developing their skills in a variety of fields.
As we have grown, we have also been able to offer discounted rates for school groups and special ‘pay what you can’ performances for local families so that everyone in our community can experience the magic of theatre, no matter their circumstance. This is what we are most proud of – theatre has the power to change lives by inspiring people, showing them a different perspective and introducing them to new experiences. Everyone should have this opportunity.
Over the last 11 years, we have welcomed tens of thousands of audience members to our theatre and are proud to offer the most unique and intimate theatrical experience in Stratford-upon-Avon. Anyone who has worked with us will agree with us when we say that Tread the Boards is a family – once you are welcomed into the fold, you will be a part of us forever.
