The Athanikar family have been thinking of the best way to honor the legacy of our parents, Nana and Usha. One thing that keeps coming up from the stories we have heard from many of their friends as well as our own memories as children, is how our parents folded new immigrants from India into our family when they first came to the US and were looking for community. They helped them settle into their new life, and our mom's wonderful cooking nourished and helped them stay connected to the homeland. It was clear our parents were committed to and vested in the success of their friends both personally and professionally, specifically those that were younger and needed mentorship.

It's in that spirit, we want to continue their legacy; we are raising funds to establish an endowment at the Banaras Hindu University, our father's beloved alma mater, towards a student scholarship so coming generations of youth can succeed and thrive. We thank you for your generosity. This gift will ensure that deserving, gifted students will be supported for generations to come.
