Hello family and friends,
I want to thank you for giving me just a minute of your time. What I’m about to share isn’t easy to talk about but it’s something many of us quietly carry. We’ve all faced moments that tested us, that left marks we couldn’t always see.
In 2020, we were offered an opportunity to move into a rental property that had fallen into severe disrepair, every corner echoing the damage left behind by the previous tenants. What was once someone’s home had become unlivable. When we met with the owner, he was honest and weary. He explained that he planned to move out of state and didn’t have the time or energy to restore the property himself. He knew of our experience in home maintenance and make-readies as he expressed to have responsible tenants like us take care of the home rather than risk ongoing damage from unreliable renters or the potential decline of the property from the homeless if it were left vacant. He concluded that if we're able to fix the house into a make ready that's livable, then we could move in calling it our home.
We saw potential where others saw ruin, a chance to turn damage into renewal, and an empty house into a home once more. Each nail we hammered, each wall we painted, carried a quiet hope. The process became healing in itself, restoring the house slowly began to restore us, too.
Throughout time, within those same walls we had repaired with our own hands, we welcomed a new life into the world—an at-home birth, a healthy baby boy named Malakai born by surprise as our miracle baby. His arrival reopened tender memories of our baby girl Erianna, whom we had lost years earlier to stillbirth. But instead of breaking us, it felt like a gentle promise kept, a sign that from pain can come peace, and from loss, new beginnings. The house became more than just a place to live. It became a symbol of resilience, love, and the quiet power of rebuilding, both a home and a heart, one day at a time.
Near the end of 2025, without warning the owner’s wife suddenly decided to sell the home for profit—a decision none of us saw coming or could have anticipated. We were given minimal notice, accompanied by harsh and malicious threats, and now we face the daunting reality of leaving the place without the time to prepare for this kind of situation that has been our refuge and witness to so much healing.
As anyone who’s moved knows, relocation isn’t just stressful, it’s expensive. Between first and last month’s rent, security deposits, moving truck costs, application fees, and basic living needs, the financial burden is heavy. Most importantly, the sudden upheaval disrupts the routine and stability of our one-and-a-half-year-old son, Malakai, who has grown accustomed to the same home we worked so hard to renovate.
With your support, we can secure a safe and stable place to live, ensuring that this sudden change does not negatively affect our son. Your generosity will have a profound impact, helping us maintain stability and continue moving forward with hope and prayer.
Thank you for your time, your compassion, and your support. Your help means the world to us, and it gives us the strength to continue rebuilding—not just a home, but a life filled with love, resilience, and hope.
With gratitude,
Anderson-Carr Family
