Hello! My name is Matthew, and I am a high school senior from New York! This fundraiser is dedicated to strengthening Jamaica after the devastating impacts of Hurricane Melissa. With the destruction of homes, infrastructure, and agricultural areas, the island is in great need of economic support.

As a young passionate advocate for equitable opportunity, along with having family in Jamaica who have been directly impacted by this natural disaster, I hope to use my platform to spread awareness on this issue and support relief efforts.

Jamaica is filled with loving and welcoming people, and it hurts to see them lacking basic resources needed to survive.

Please donate as the money goes to The American Friends of Jamaica, a non-profit organization that aims to provide relief and rebuilding support to communities across Jamaica.

The American Friends of Jamaica is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting Jamaican charitable organizations and social initiatives working to improve the lives of Jamaicans through systemic development in the areas of education, health care and economic development.

Founded in 1982 by a handful of Jamaicans and Americans who loved Jamaica and wanted to see it prosper, the organization has created a legacy of philanthropy dedicated to the people of Jamaica, raising nearly U$20 million to date on behalf of Jamaica’s non-profit and charitable organizations.
