Support the Alfheim’s with Michael’s Medical Expenses

On Tuesday, January 28th, my dad, Michael Alfheim, was rushed in an ambulance to Clovis Community Hospital after waking up in extreme pain and his whole neck largely swollen. He was immediately admitted, and within less than 12 hours, deemed septic and transferred to the ICU. It was there we found out he had a very aggressive bacteria called Streptococcal A get into his bloodstream, and was now wreaking havoc on his body. Every organ was being attacked resulting in stage 5 kidney failure, congestive heart disease, liver damage, muscle loss, and severe pneumonia in both of his lungs. There were many days that we were not sure he would even make it.

Through the power of prayer, the grace of God, and the amazing medical staff at Clovis Community Hospital, he finally turned a corner and has been on the road to recovery. Two weeks later he is still in the hospital and set to be there a minimum of another week. After the hospital, he will be transferred to an in-patient rehabilitation center to begin physical therapy to gain his mobility and strength back. The amount of time he will need to be there is still very unknown, but we do know his road to full recovery will be a long one. Because he is still healing, there are many unknowns of the medical after effects he will have to deal with, or what else he will need medical treatment for.

The stress and cloud of hefty medical bills for all of this treatment is already hanging over my mom’s head while trying to devote all her energy to my dad and his recovery. The only thing she should be worried about and focused on is my dad and assisting him in this recovery journey.
